OKLAHOMA CITY – Lou Dunbar scored a career-high 28 points to help Oklahoma City University rout Dallas Christian 99-77 on Wednesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Dunbar, a junior from Seabrook, Texas, also matched a career high with seven 3-pointers to go along with four rebounds, two steals and one block. OCU, ranked 18th in NAIA Division I men's basketball, moved to 2-0 on the season.
The Stars opened the game on a 26-6 run which included 11 straight points from Dunbar. Dunbar nailed three treys to fuel OCU's uprising.
As a team, OCU outrebounded Dallas Christian 53-27, shot 51.4 percent from the floor and 44.0 percent from 3-point range.
"All in all, I was pleased with the win," OCU head coach Vinay Patel said. "But we've got to get better defensively if we're going to continue to keep winning moving forward this season."
Xavier Smith, a senior out of Richardson, Texas, recorded his second straight double-double, providing 16 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots.
Tyler Alderman and Terence Bonhomme both scored 14 points for the Stars. Alderman, a senior from Fishers, Ind., was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with nine boards, two blocks and one steal off the bench. Bonhomme, a junior from St. Martinsville, La., scored all 14 of his points in the second half while also grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out five assists with only one turnover.
The Crusaders were led by Trey Lindsey, who scored 22 points with seven rebounds.
The Stars' next game is against Haskell (Kan.) at 5 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
