OCU sinks Southwestern Assemblies of God 2-0

Stars take third shutout of year

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma City University scooped up a 2-0 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Saturday at SAGU Field.
Laci Shipley and Britani Tripp provided goals for the Stars. OCU improved to 4-7, 2-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer.
Shipley, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., struck for OCU's first goal of the match 28 seconds into the second half in the 45th minute. Shipley came through for her second goal of the year.
Tripp gave the Stars a 2-0 advantage in the 47th minute. Tripp, a senior from Edmond, Okla., scored her fifth goal of 2016 and 10th as a Star.
OCU notched its third shutout of the season. Kirsten Thomas recorded her second blanking of the year and 10th career whitewash. Thomas, a sophomore from Keller, Texas, snared nine saves.
The Stars held the advantage in shots (16-14) and shots on goal (11-9).
Oklahoma City meets Southwestern Christian at 5 p.m. Saturday at Stars Field.
