Harvey takes 350th women's win as Stars nip Wayland Baptist 1-0

OCU coach collected 750th college win Sept. 17

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University coach Brian Harvey picked up his 350th women's college soccer coaching victory in a 1-0 win over Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Saturday at Stars Field.
Sara Ricks supplied the decisive goal for the Stars early in the second half. OCU (7-9, 5-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference) took the fifth seed in the SAC Tournament and will face St. Gregory's on Nov. 4 at a time to be determined in Shawnee, Okla.
Harvey has guided OCU's women to a 350-109-25 in the program's 23rd year. Harvey posted his 750th victory in college men's and women's soccer Sept. 17 when OCU's men edged Kansas Wesleyan 1-0 in Salina, Kan. Harvey's men's and women's record stands at 761-301-64 in his 31st year at OCU.
Ricks, a sophomore from Keller, Texas, notched her eighth goal of the year in the 49th minute.
Stars goalkeeper Kirsten Thomas collected her second consecutive shutout. Thomas, a sophomore from Keller, Texas, took her fifth whitewash of the year. She made two saves.
The Stars recorded their sixth blanking this season. OCU built advantages in shots (9-5) and shots on goal (5-4).
