SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University was eliminated from the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament after a 2-1 loss to St. Gregory's on Friday at Fr. Victor Roberts Field.
Sara Ricks scored the only goal for Oklahoma City in the 36th minute to make the game 2-1, but the Stars didn't muster another goal. OCU finished the season 7-10.
St. Gregory's opened the scoring in the fifth minute off a penalty kick goal from Abi Housecroft. The Cavaliers struck again in the 26th minute when Araceli Flores found the back of the net off an assist from Angelica Daggs.
Ricks, a sophomore from Keller, Texas, was able to score her team-leading ninth goal of the season to cut the lead in half.
OCU held a 14-5 advantage in shots and a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Kirsten Thomas, a sophomore from Keller, Texas, played the whole game in goal and recorded two saves in the loss.
St. Gregory's (10-7) will face the winner of Wayland Baptist (Texas) and John Brown (Ark.) in the SAC Tournament semifinals Monday.
