OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University handed Southwestern Christian its first conference loss of the season with a 3-2 win Saturday at Stars Field.
Alexandre Taiar, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, scored two of OCU's three goals, including the game winner to help the Stars move to 10-3, 4-1 in conference play. Southwestern Christian, ranked 24th in NAIA men's soccer, dropped to 10-3, 4-1.
With the win, OCU moves into a tie for third place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings.
Taiar's two goals sandwiched a goal by Logan Stewart as the two are now tied for the team lead with seven.
Vladimir Kalajdzic, a junior from Novi Sad, Serbia, picked up the win, played the entire game in goal and recorded three saves.
Matheus Goviea scored the first goal of the game for Southwestern Christian in the second minute off of a corner kick and assist by Rob Tomlin.
Taiar's first goal tied the game at one goal each in the 15th minute off of an assist from Juan Ocampo.
Stewart, a junior from Denton, Texas, gave OCU the 2-1 in the 63rd minute with an assist by Andrew Flores.
Ocampo, a senior from Boca Raton, Fla., assisted Taiar's second goal just two minutes later in the 65th minute to give the Stars a 3-1 advantage.
The game's final goal was scored by Milan Milicevic of Southwestern Christian to bring the score to 3-2.
OCU outshot Southwestern Christian 17-16 and produced a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal.
The Stars head to St. Gregory's for a match Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.
