OKLAHOMA CITY – Andrew Flores scored the game-winning goal in the 102nd minute to give Oklahoma City University the 3-2 double-overtime victory over Mid-America Christian on Saturday at Evangel Field.
Flores, a freshman from Rowlett, Texas, scored after a beautiful assist by forward Logan Stewart. OCU moved to 8-2, 2-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer.
Stewart, a junior from Denton, Texas, also scored for the Stars after breaking free at midfield in the 44th minute.
MACU opened the scoring in the 19th minute to go up 1-0. OCU's Alexandre Taiar, a junior from San Paulo, Brazil, tied the game on a penalty kick in the 23rd minute.
Mid-America Christian evened the score when Gleydson Neri headed in a goal in the 58th minute.
MACU led the way in both shots (17-14) as well as shots on goal (10-7). The Evangels lost two players during the course of the game due to red cards.
Stars keeper Vladimir Kalajdzic picked up eight saves to preserve the victory.
OCU continues conference play 7 p.m. Tuesday as the Stars head to Siloam Springs, Ark., to take on John Brown (Ark.).
