Stars cruise to 56-42 win over John Brown

OCU moves to 9-1 in conference play

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University completed its season sweep of John Brown (Ark.) with a 56-42 win on Saturday at Bill George Arena.
Daniela Wallen, a junior from Caracas, Venezuela, notched her eighth double-double of the season, while pacing the Stars with 19 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and four assists. The Stars, ranked 14th in NAIA Division I women's basketball, improved to 12-5 overall on the season and 9-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles' only lead of the game was on the first basket. At halftime, OCU held the 26-19 advantage. After, the Stars steadily increased its lead over JBU by outscoring the Golden Eagles in the final two quarters.
Allison Frey, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., shot 6 of 12 from the 3-point territory for 18 points, while adding two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Four of Frey's six made treys came in the second half.
Catherine Kruschke, a senior from Dublin, Calif., scored 15 points, while adding five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The Stars shot 46 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point land, while the Golden Eagles managed 32.1 percent from the field and 18.2 percent from beyond the arc.
Oklahoma City outrebounded John Brown 37-26 and dominated points in the paint to a tone of 32-18.
The Stars are back in action against Mid-America Christian 6 p.m. Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
