Our Lady of the Lake stymies OCU 83-63

Stars drop to 2-3 against ranked NAIA Division I foes this season

SAN ANTONIO – Oklahoma City University dropped an 83-63 decision to Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on Saturday at the Mabee Gymnasium in a clash of ranked NAIA women's basketball teams.
Daniela Wallen, a junior from Caracas, Venezuela, highlighted OCU's effort with 24 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. The Stars, ranked 13th in NAIA Division I, went to 5-4.
Wallen knocked down 9 of her 14 shots from the field while notching her third consecutive double-double and her sixth in seven games. Catherine Kruschke, a senior from Dublin, Calif., added eight points, three rebounds and two assists, while Leah Cheney, a junior from Ault, Colo., pitched in eight points, four rebounds and three assists for the Stars.

OCU's Amanda Ingram, a junior from Oklahoma City, posted seven points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Janae Haag, a junior from Olpe, Kan., contributed seven points and four rebounds in her Stars debut.
The Stars finished the season series 1-1 against Our Lady of the Lake, ranked 10th in NAIA Division I. OCU has a 2-4 record against top-25 NAIA teams in 2015-16.
OCU held Our Lady of the Lake to 27.8 percent shooting from the field while outscoring the home team 31-28 in the second half. The Stars won the rebounding battle 39-28 while holding an advantage in second-chance points 13-8.
Oklahoma City resumes Sooner Athletic Conference play at 6 p.m. Thursday against Bacone in Muskogee, Okla.
