OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City University men's soccer team started conference play Tuesday with a shutout against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) 4-0 at Stars Field.
Petar Djurdjevic scored unassisted off a free kick in the 25th minute to get the Stars started. Logan Stewart proceeded to score his second, third and fourth goal of the season in his first collegiate career hat trick. OCU improved to 1-6, 1-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference on the season, while SAGU fell to 4-4-1, 0-1.
Stewart's first goal came unassisted in the 28th minute. Lucas Ribeiro assisted Stewart in the 30th minute. The final goal occurred in the 47th minute off an assist by Alexandre Taiar. Vladimir Kalajdzic recorded two saves in his first shutout of the season and moved to 1-6 as the Stars goalkeeper this season. Cesar Espana had two saves and allowed four goals in the 71:50 minutes of action. Edgar Chavez played the last 18:10 in the net for the Lions. The Stars held the shot advantage 16-5.
OCU is back in action 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 against John Brown (Ark.).
