BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University dealt Oklahoma Wesleyan its first loss of the season 3-1 Thursday at the Oklahoma Wesleyan soccer complex.
Ailee Thompson, senior from Oklahoma City, led the way for the Stars with two goals and an assist. OCU, ranked 24th in NAIA women's soccer, improved to 4-2 on the season, while Oklahoma Wesleyan dropped to 5-1-1. The goals mark the fourth and fifth on the season for Thompson, while the assist was her sixth.
Sara Ricks, a freshman from Keller, Texas, started the scoring with Thompson's assist in the 22nd minute. In the 38th minute, Thompson scored the eventual game-winning unassisted goal. In the final minute of the match, Thompson added the final goal to secure the win. Aracelly Ortega scored the lone goal for the Eagles in the 31st minute from an assist by Kaja Cremin.
Kirsten Thomas recorded seven saves and improved to 3-2 as the Stars goalkeeper. The Eagles goalkeeper Lindsey Williams had three saves and dropped to 1-1 on the season. The Stars are back in action 1 p.m. Sunday against Houston-Victoria at Stars Field.
