Stars take 1-0 setback to Kansas Wesleyan

Chavez boosts Kansas Wesleyan

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University suffered its first setback of the season 1-0 to Kansas Wesleyan on Thursday afternoon in the John Brown Invitational at Alumni Field.
Cynthia Chavez accounted for the only goal of the contest. Oklahoma City dropped to 2-1 in women's soccer this season.
The Stars' Allison Worsham, a senior from Edmond, Okla., posted a team-high six shots, including one in the final 10 seconds that Kansas Wesleyan goalkeeper Rachel Cardwell saved. Allie Glazner, Britani Soesbee and Ailee Thompson each recorded two shots for OCU.
Chavez scored off Katie Hernandez's assist in the 81st minute.
OCU generated 15 shots, while Kansas Wesleyan took 14. The Stars had the edge in shots on goal 10-8.
Kirsten Thomas provided Oklahoma City with seven saves. Cardwell notched 10 saves in picking up the shutout.
The Stars meet Grace (Ind.), ranked 15th in the NAIA, at 5 p.m. Saturday in Siloam Springs, Ark., in the NAIA Network match of the week.
