OCU advances to Opening Round title game

Stars play Concorcia (Ore.) for NAIA Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket championship

OKLAHOMA CITY – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University fell to Concordia (Ore.) 3-1 and topped Concordia (Neb.) 9-2 Tuesday in the second day of the NAIA Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The No. 1-ranked Stars went to 54-5 in softball and take on Concordia (Ore.) for the second time in the tournament in the Opening Round championship game 9 a.m. Wednesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
In the first game against Concordia (Ore.), the Cavaliers produced back-to-back home runs in the first inning to lead 3-0 early in the game.
OCU got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning on Laci Joyner's single to center field to score Jocelin Diaz.
Kyndra Holasek, a junior from Mustang, Okla., went 3-for-4 in the lead-off spot for the Stars.
Abby Meador, a freshman from Midwest City, pitched 2.1 innings and allowed three runs on two hits and struck out three in the loss, while Maci-Brooke Lambert, a senior from Healdton, Okla., went 3.2 innings of work and allowed no runs on no hits and struck out five.
In the nightcap, the Stars tacked on six runs in the first inning to take the early lead. Cheyanne Terry, a senior from Little Axe, Okla., started the scoring with a double to right center that brought in Kyndra Holasek. Kylee Rounsaville, a senior from Mustang, Okla., then singled to left field and scored Terry.
Concordia (Neb.) scored two runs on a single up the middle.
The Stars added insurance runs in the second and two in the seventh to collect the victory.
Carissa Turang, a senior from Whittier, Calif., went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Rounsaville went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Meador went 3.1 innings, allowed two runs on five hits and struck out four, while Maria Gomez, a senior from Yaracuy, Venezuela, pitched 3.2 innings, allowed no runs on one hit and struck out one to improve to 19-1.
