OCU’s Meador throws perfect game in 9-3, 6-0 clubbing of MACU

Meader improves to 19-1 for Stars

OKLAHOMA CITY – Abby Meador's perfect game headlined Oklahoma City University's 9-3 and 6-0 victories over Mid-America Christian Tuesday at Jack Allen Field.
Meador, a freshman from Midwest City, Okla., improved to 19-1 on the mound for the Stars. OCU, ranked No. 1 in NAIA softball, improved to 46-2, 23-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The Stars got on the scoreboard in the first inning. Kylee Rounsaville, a senior from Mustang, Okla., singled to second base that drove in Kyndra Holasek. Cheyanne Terry, a senior from Little Axe, Okla., scored on a wild throw from the Mid-America catcher.
OCU's Jamie Rateliff, a senior from Mustang, Okla., doubled to center field and drove in Rounsaville. McRae Cayton, a junior from Irvine, Calif., blasted her seventh home run of the season and brought in Rateliff to give the Stars a 5-0 run in the first inning.
In the next inning, Terry singled to second base and drove in Carissa Turang from third. Jocelin Diaz, a senior form Maracay, Venezuela, capped the inning with a grounder to the pitcher but scored Holasek in the process.
The Stars' Madison Ellis, sophomore from Yukon, Okla., doubled to right-center to score Amanda Ingram in the third.
Diaz crushed her 11th home run of the year to right field to cap the Stars scoring.
Cayton went 2-for-2, scored one and drove in two.
Maria Gomez, a senior from Yaracuy, Venezuela, improved to 18-1 on the year in three innings of work, allowed two runs on three hits and struck out one.
In the latter game, Rounsaville drove a two-run double to left field that drove in Holasek and Diaz to put the Stars on the board in the third. Later in the third, Rateliff singled to left field and scored Rounsaville. Laci Joyner, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., ended the third inning scoring rally with a triple to left field that drove in Rateliff.
Ellis reached on an error by the left fielder that drove in Emily Krienke and Rateliff to end the scoring in the fifth.
Meador threw the complete-game seven innings with no runs on no hits and struck out eight. Meador's perfect game adds to OCU's perfect game against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on April 10 in Stars coach Phil McSpadden's record-breaking win and no-hitter against Kansas Wesleyan on March 7.
The Stars travel to Oklahoma Baptist for a doubleheader Thursday starting at 5 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.
