OCU tacks on three wins in Wichita Round Robin

Stars remain unscathed at 16-0

WICHITA, Kan. – Oklahoma City University pounded 14 home runs while rolling to three victories in the Wichita Round Robin on Sunday at the Two Rivers Youth Club.
The Stars routed Midland (Neb.) 12-4, then Hastings (Neb.) 7-3 and Saint Mary (Kan.) 17-2. OCU, ranked fifth in NAIA softball, remain unbeaten at 16-0.
Against Midland, Oklahoma City hit six home runs. Kylee Rounsaville hammered two homers, while Jocelin Diaz, Madison Ellis, Jamie Rateliff and Cheyanne Terry tacked on homers. Diaz and Terry nailed back-to-back homers, while Rateliff and Ellis also homered for OCU during a seven-run third inning.
Rounsaville, a senior from Mustang, Okla., went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Kyndra Holasek, a junior from Mustang, Okla., was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Ellis, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two runs driven in.
Abby Meador notched the win to go to 6-0. Meador, a freshman from Midwest City, Okla., had eight strikeouts in 4.2 innings. Rateliff, a senior from Mustang, Okla., worked the final 1.1 innings.
Against Hastings, the Stars connected on four homers. Ellis, Holasek, Rateliff and Amanda Ingram hammered homers. Ingram and Holasek hit consecutive homers.
Ellis had a 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored and two runs driven in, while Holasek went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two runs brought in. Terry, a senior from Little Axe, Okla., and McRae Cayton added two hits each.
Maci-Brooke Lambert gave a complete-game effort to earn the victory. Lambert, a senior from Healdton, Okla., moved to 5-0 this year.
Against Saint Mary, the Stars belted four homers. Diaz, Ellis, Rateliff and Rounsaville swatted homers.
Ellis was 2-for-4, scored twice and drove in three runs, and Carissa Turang, a senior from Whittier, Calif., went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Holasek scored three times, knocked in two runs and went 2-for-4, while Rateliff was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Maria Gomez worked the entire game to get the win. Gomez, a senior from Yaracuy, Venezuela, improved to 5-0.   
OCU's games originally scheduled for Tuesday at Texas Wesleyan have been postponed with no makeup date set. The Stars meet Ottawa (Kan.) in a 2 p.m. twin bill Thursday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
