Stars sweep Ottawa 12-4, 7-0

OCU runs record to 18-0

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dispatched Ottawa (Kan.) 12-4 and 7-0 on Thursday in the Stars' home debut this season at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Jamie Rateliff sparked OCU with a three-run home run in the first game, while Kylee Rounsaville knocked in five runs in the Stars' second game Thursday. Oklahoma City, ranked fifth in NAIA softball, improved to 18-0.
Rateliff, a senior from Mustang, Okla., swatted a three-run blast over the right-field wall to give the Stars a 4-0 first-inning advantage. Cheyanne Terry had an RBI single, then Jocelin Diaz nailed a run-scoring double in the second inning. Also in the second, Laci Joyner got hit by pitch with the bases full to put OCU ahead 7-0.
In the fourth, Kyndra Holasek drove in two runs on a two-out single to center as OCU led 11-2. Joyner finished the game when she scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.
Holasek, a junior from Mustang, Okla., went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Rateliff was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and three runs driven in for OCU. Diaz, a senior from Maracay, Venezuela, and Terry, a senior from Little Axe, Okla., each scored twice, drove in two runs and went 1-for-3.
Maria Gomez, a senior from Yaracuy, Venezuela, posted her six victory of the season for the Stars. Gomez struck out 10 in six innings.
In the second game, Rounsaville jumpstarted OCU with a first-inning two-run single to right. In the sixth, Rounsaville crushed a three-run shot over the left-field wall. Madison Ellis stole home, then Jeananne Ruck added a sacrifice fly to close out OCU's scoring.
Rounsaville, a senior from Mustang, Okla., went 2-for-4 with five runs driven in, while Terry went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. McRae Cayton, a junior from Irvine, Calif., was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Abby Meador, a freshman from Midwest City, Okla., hurled a one-hitter, striking out 13 in seven innings. Meador went to 7-0 on the year.
Oklahoma City faces MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) in a 1 p.m. twin bill Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
