Stars win twice in Wichita Round Robin

Lambert, Meador of OCU team to no-hit Kansas Wesleyan in 7-0 win

WICHITA, Kan. – Oklahoma City University pounded Bethany (Kan.) 10-1 and Kansas Wesleyan 7-0 on Saturday in the Wichita Round Robin at the Two Rivers Youth Club.
The Stars racked up 21 hits on the day. OCU, ranked fifth in NAIA softball, moved to 13-0 on the year.
Against Kansas Wesleyan, Maci-Brooke Lambert and Abby Meador combined on a no-hitter. Lambert, a senior from Healdton, Okla., allowed only three walks and two hit batsmen but no hits through five innings. Meador, a freshman from Midwest City, Okla., struck out three in the final two innings.
Kyndra Holasek, a junior from Mustang, Okla., went 3-for-3, while Cheyanne Terry went 2-for-4 and scored twice for the Stars. Jamie Rateliff went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored.
Against Bethany, Rateliff and Madison Ellis cranked home runs to touch off a seven-run fifth inning for OCU. Ellis hit her second homer, while Rateliff connected for her fifth homer of the year for the Stars.
Ellis, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Rateliff, a senior from Mustang, Okla., was 1-for-2 with three runs driven in. McRae Cayton, a junior from Irvine, Calif., went 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Terry, a senior from Little Axe, Okla., was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Maria Gomez, a senior from Yaracuy, Venezuela, struck out four in five innings to post her fourth victory of the season for Oklahoma City.
OCU meets Midland (Neb.) at 10 a.m., Hastings (Neb.) at noon, then Saint Mary (Kan.) at 4 p.m. Sunday in Wichita, Kan.
