OCU trounces USAO 12-5

Stars score 12 runs on 12 hits

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Oklahoma City University jumped all over Science and Arts of Oklahoma 12-5 Friday at Bill Smith Ballpark.
The Stars scored 10 runs in the ninth inning to collect their first Sooner Athletic Conference win. OCU improved to 11-4, 1-0 SAC on the season in baseball.
Oklahoma City trailed 5-2 entering the top of the ninth. J.J. Bissell, a junior from Windsor, Colo., clocked a three-run homerun that started the OCU scoring waterfall and tied the game at 5-5.
Josh Halbert, a senior from Choctaw, Okla., knocked a double that scored Adonis Askew to give OCU it's first lead of the game.
Reggie Wilson, a junior from Beaumont, Texas, and Jared Baker, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., both went 2-for-4 with two runs scored on the day, while Bissell went 2-for-2.
Dustin Cook, a junior from Huffman, Texas, pitched 5.2 innings giving up five hits, four runs, one earned and struck out seven for OCU. Holden Lyons, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., collected the win on 3.1 innings of relief, allowing two hits, one run and struck out two.
The Stars host USAO in a doubleheader 1 p.m. Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
