Stars split doubleheader against USAO

OCU went to 2-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University won one of two game against Science and Arts of Oklahoma Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
16th-rankedOCU topped USAO 5-3 in the first game and got blown out 16-7 in the second. The Stars went to 13-7, 2-1 Sooner Athletic Conference baseball.
In the first game, Oklahoma City scored all its runs in the first two innings. The first inning Jared Baker, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., hit a sacrifice fly that scored Joe Lytle to extend the Stars' lead to 2-0.
In the second inning, Connor Lynch, a senior from Marietta, Ga., smoked a line drive to center field that scored Reggie Wilson and Adam Clark to end the Stars' scoring.
Carlos Chavez, a junior from Rio Rancho, N.M., pitched six scoreless innings in the win giving up six hits and five strikeouts.
In the second game, Lynch singled up the middle to score Lytle to tie the game in the first. The Stars scored two more runs in the second inning to draw the game to a 2-2 tie.
Wilson hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to left center to cut the USAO lead to 6-5. The Drovers pulled away in the sixth inning.
The Stars host No. 1 Cumberlands (Tenn.) 3 p.m. Monday at Jim Wade Stadium.
