Stars take 7-6 loss to Oklahoma Christian

OCU moves to No. 5 in newest top 25

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's rally fell short in a 7-6 setback to Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday at Dobson Field.
Reggie Wilson pounded a two-run home run for Oklahoma City. The Stars went to 27-8 and fifth in the latest NAIA baseball rankings.
Oklahoma City cut its deficit to 7-5 in the eighth inning as Dylan Delso nailed an RBI single to center field. The Stars scored again in the inning when Connor Lynch reached home plate on Oklahoma Christian second baseman Chase Kuwitsky's overthrow on a ground ball hit by Adonis Askew.
Wilson socked a two-out base hit to right in the ninth to give Oklahoma City the possible tying run on base. Oklahoma Christian right-hander Garett Hill retired Ryan Wright on a grounder to second to finish the game.
In the sixth, Wilson drew a lead-off walk, then scored on an Oklahoma Christian error. Delso drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to center as the Stars trailed 5-4.
Oklahoma Christian plated four runs in the second. Oklahoma City responded as Wilson launched an 0-1 pitch beyond the left-field wall for a two-run homer in the third.
Wilson, a junior from Beaumont, Texas, was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base, and Joe Haddox, a junior from Moore, Okla., went 2-for-4 and scored a run for the Stars. Delso, a junior from Broken Arrow, Okla., went 1-for-3 with two runs driven in.
Oklahoma City's Skylar Janisse moved to 2-3 while taking the loss. Holden Lyons held Oklahoma Christian to one hit in the final two innings while striking out four.
The Stars resume Sooner Athletic Conference play against Texas Wesleyan at 3 p.m. Friday at QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie, Texas.
