Stars rout Mid-America Christian 18-4, 8-2

OCU accumulate season-best 18 runs on 17 hits

OKLAHOMA CITY – No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University blasted Mid-America Christian 18-4 and 8-2 on Friday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
OCU's Kylee Rounsaville belted two home runs and drove in seven runs in the first game, while Jamie Rateliff hammered a three-run homer in the second. The Stars, top-ranked in NAIA softball, moved to 25-1, 4-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Oklahoma City posted season highs with 18 runs and 17 hits.
Rounsaville, a senior from Mustang, Okla., erased a 2-0 deficit by nailing a three-run blast beyond the left-field wall in the bottom of the first. Rounsaville's two-run shot past right-center field gave the Stars a 7-2 second-inning advantage.
Rateliff, a senior from Mustang, Okla., pounded a solo blast to left for back-to-back homers. Madison Ellis socked an RBI single to center to give OCU a 9-2 lead through two innings.
In the third, Rateliff doubled to drive in a run, while Ellis smacked a two-run double to the right-center gap to increase OCU's third-inning lead to 14-2.
The Stars added four runs as Rounsaville had a two-run single in the fourth. Amanda Ingram drove in a run on a base hit to right, while Carissa Turang drew a bases-loaded walk to close out the scoring.
Rounsaville went 3-for-4, scored three runs, drove in a career-high seven runs and notched her fifth career two-homer game and third multi-homer game of the season. Jocelin Diaz, a senior from Maracay, Venezuela, went 3-for-4, scored four runs, doubled twice and knocked in two runs, and Ellis, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Oklahoma City.
Cheyanne Terry, a senior from Newcastle, Okla., went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases, while Kyndra Holasek, a junior from Mustang, Okla., was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, a steal and an RBI for the Stars. Rateliff was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, a double and two RBIs, and Ingram, a sophomore from Oklahoma City, went 2-for-2, stole two bases, scored twice and brought in two runs.
Maci-Brooke Lambert remained unbeaten on the season with her sixth win. Lambert, a senior right-hander from Healdton, Okla., struck out six in five innings.
In the next game, OCU built a 6-0 first-inning lead. Rateliff had a three-run homer to right-center, while McRae Cayton nailed a two-run blast to left. Turang, a senior from Whittier, Calif., added an RBI double.
In the third, Holasek hit an RBI double, then Turang scored on Diaz's sacrifice bunt.
Holasek was 2-for-2 with a run scored, two steals and an RBI double, while Ellis was 2-for-2 with two runs scored for OCU. Turang went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Maria Gomez, a senior from Yaracuy, Venezuela, moved to 9-0. Gomez fanned six in seven innings.   
The Stars continue SAC play against Southwestern Christian in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Monday in Bethany, Okla.
