Stars snap OBU’s unbeaten streak 12-2

OCU tops No. 1 team in NAIA

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University knocked off No. 1 Oklahoma Baptist 12-2 in eight innings at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, ranked 11th in NAIA baseball, knocked two home runs and 14 hits to improve to 26-7, 9-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. J.J. Bissell, a junior from Windsor, Colo., started OCU's scoring in the second inning by hitting a two-run home run to center field that score Ryan Wright.
The Stars tacked on three runs in the seventh. Reggie Wilson, a junior from Beaumont, Texas, blasted a home run to right field to extend the lead to 6-2.
OCU ended the game in the eighth by adding four more runs. Joe Lytle, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., started scoring off with a double to left center that scored Josh Halbert. Ryan Wright, a senior from Fruitland, Idaho, struck a fielder's choice to shortstop, beat out a double-play attempt and scored Adonis Askew to cap the game.
Jared Baker, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., went 4-for-4 on the night with two RBIs and a run scored.
Dustin Cook, a junior from Huffman, Okla., threw a complete game with two earned runs, six hits while striking out five to improve to 6-0 on the year.

The Stars travel to Oklahoma Baptist for the last game of the series 1 p.m. Saturday in Shawnee, Okla.
