OCU sweeps Southwestern Christian

Stars improve to 25-6 on year

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University took two games from Southwestern Christian 13-0 and 5-0 Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, ranked 13th in NAIA baseball, racked up 22 hits on the day and improved to 25-6, 7-1 Sooner Athletic Conference.
OCU used consistent scoring and dominant pitching to collect the win in the first game. The Stars scored runs in every inning but the third.
Reggie Wilson, a junior from Beaumont, Texas, went 3-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBIs, while Joe Lytle, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Matt Young, a sophomore from Glendora, Calif., pitched 6.1 scoreless innings on two hits and seven strikeouts and improved to 4-0 on the season.
In the second game, OCU jumped out to a 4-0 lead on two Southwestern Christian errors in the first inning. Josh Halbert, a senior from Choctaw, Okla., smacked a double down the left field line that scored Dylan Delso and Jared Baker.
Adam Clark, a senior from St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, clobbered a home run into left field in the fourth inning to give the Stars an insurance run.
Dustin Cook, a junior from Huffman, Texas, threw a complete-game shutout on five hits and struck out six while improving to 5-0.
The Stars travel to No. 1 Oklahoma Baptist 6 p.m. Thursday in Shawnee, Okla.
