OCU remains perfect with two wins over St. Gregory’s

Stars improve to 20-0 in 2015

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University topped No. 6 St. Gregory's 10-4 and 8-0 Tuesday at the Ballfields at Firelake.
The Stars, ranked fifth in NAIA softball, improved to 20-0, 2-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. In the first game, OCU pinned seven runs in the fourth inning to collect the victory.
Oklahoma City scored one run in the second and third inning before exploding in the fourth.
Laci Joyner, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., knocked her first home run of the season to left field to start OCU's scoring. Kyndra Holasek, a junior from Mustang, Okla., doubled to right center that scored Madison Ellis. Cheyanne Terry then singled to right center that scored Holasek. Jocelin Diaz later doubled down the left field line scoring Terry. Finally, Kylee Rounsaville clobbered her second home run of the second to left field for a two-run home run.
Stars' Abby Meador, a freshman from Midwest City, Okla., improved to 8-0 on the season on 4.1 innings pitched, giving up no runs on one hit and struck out nine.
OCU used consistent scoring in the second game to come out on top.
In the first inning of the second game, Diaz doubled down the right field like that scored Terry.
Joyner singled through the left side in the third inning to score Sarah De La Cruz. Later in the inning Ellis smacked a two-run home run to left field that scored Joyner.
The Stars added another run in the fifth inning to end the game early. Holasek hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring Carissa Turang home.
Maria Gomez, a senior from Yaracuy, Venezuela, pitched 4.2 scoreless innings on seven hits and struck out two while improving to 7-0 on the year.
OCU hosts Baker (Kan.) in a doubleheader 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
