OCU squeaks past Indiana Tech 5-4

Stars improve to 18-5 on season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University held on for a 5-4 win over Indiana Tech on Sunday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars jacked back-to-back home runs in the third inning. OCU, ranked 16th in NAIA baseball, improved to 18-5 on the season.
OCU's Jared Baker, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., hit a sacrifice fly to left field in the first inning to score Reggie Wilson from third base to take an early 1-0 lead.
Indiana Tech evened the score in the top of the third on two Stars errors.
In the bottom half of the inning, Joe Lytle, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., socked a double to left-center that scored Wilson. Baker then clobbered a two-run home run to dead center that brought Lytle home. The next batter, Connor Lynch, a senior from Marietta, Ga., smacked a solo home run to left field to give the Stars a 5-1 lead.
Ryan Wright, a senior from Fruitland, Idaho, went 2-for-3 on the day. Baker drove in three runs.
Matt Young, a sophomore from Glendora, Calif., took the mound for OCU and pitched seven innings, gave up two earned runs on six hits and struck out seven to improve to 3-0. Miguel Gonzalez, a junior from Los Angeles, pitched two innings in relief, giving up one run on one hits and struck out two.
