OCU takes down St. Gregory’s 7-6 in extras

The Stars scored five runs in the first inning

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University came out ahead 7-6 against St. Gregory's in 10 innings Thursday at Jim Wade Stadium.
OCU tacked on five runs in the first inning and were unable to score again until the sixth. The Stars, ranked 16th in NAIA baseball, improved to 15-5, 3-1 Sooner Athletic Conference baseball.
Connor Lynch, a senior from Marietta, Ga. singled to the left side of the infield that brought Reggie Wilson home to give the Stars a 1-0 early lead. Later in the first J.J. Bissell, a junior from Windsor, Colo clobbered a grand slam into right field that extended the lead to 5-0. Bissell's third home run of the season.
St. Gregory's tied the game in the ninth on a single from Nick Hoffman that scored two runs.
In the tenth, Ryan Wright, a senior from Fruitland, Idaho, knocked a double to right field that got to the wall to score Joe Haddox from first.
OCU's Dustin Cook, a junior from Huffman, Texas, started on the mound and pitched six innings, giving up three hits, one earned run, and struck out six.
Migueal Gonzalez, a junior from Los Angeles, improved to 3-0 on the season on two innings of work, gave up one hit, one earned run and struck out three.
The Stars travel to St. Gregory's for a doubleheader 1 p.m. Saturday in Shawnee, Okla.
