Stars top Tabor 1-0 in walk off fashion

OCU's Askew laid down a sacrifice bunt to collect the victory

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dropped to Mount Mercy (Iowa) 3-4 and defeated 7th-ranked Tabor (Kan.) 1-0 Saturday night at Jim Wade Stadium.
OCU's Adonis Askew put down a sacrifice bunt to score Dylan Deslo in the eighth inning. The Stars improved to 8-4 in baseball.
Askew, a senior from Houston, put down a bunt down the third base line. Tabor's third baseman fell when trying to collect the ball then threw the ball over the short stop's head covering third to score Delso from second, the lone run of the game.
Stars' Carlos Chavez, a junior from Rio Rancho, N.M., pitched 6.1 innings, give up four hits and struck out nine in the no decision. Miguel Gonzalez, a junior from Los Angeles, can in and pitched 1.2 innings, allowing no hits, struck out one to improve to 2-0 on the season.
In the first game. Oklahoma City scored runs in the first and the third to take a 2-0 early lead. Connor Lynch, a senior from Marietta, Ga., flew out to right field that score Reggie Wilson in the first.
In the third Ryan Wright, a senior from Fruitland, Idaho, doubled to right field to score Wilson again.
Mounty Mercy score two runs in the fourth to take the game into extra innings and scored two runs in the eighth to take a 4-2 lead.
The Stars closed the gap when Dylan Delso, a junior from Broken Arrow, Okla., singled to left field and scored Wilson.
Wilson, a junior from Beaumont, Texas, went 2-for-3 and scored three runs in the game.
The Stars return to action at East Central 2 p.m. Tuesday in Ada, Okla.
