OCU splits a pair on Friday

The Stars improved to 7-3 on the year

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University fell to Mount Mercy (Iowa) 3-1 and controlled MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) 6-1 on Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, ranked 16th in the NAIA, improved to 7-3 on the season and created a combined 10 hits on the day.
Mount Mercy scored all of their runs in the third inning. OCU scored their loan run when Joe Lytle, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., grounded to the second baseman which allowed Adonis Askew to score.
Skylar Janisse, a junior from LaSalle, Ontario, Canada, allowed three runs on one hit and struck out six in the loss.
Oklahoma City scored three runs in the third inning against MidAmerica Nazarene. Reggie Wilson, a junior from Beaumont, Texas, tripled to right center scoring Hunter Marcum. Later Dylan Delso, a junior from Broken Arrow, doubled off the left field fence to score Wilson and Joe Haddox.
Dustin Cook, a junior from Huffman Texas, went the distance giving up seven hits and striking out nine. Cook has pitched two complete games, 20 innings, struck out 25 with a 0.45 earned run average in three games.
OCU hosts Mount Mercy at 10 a.m. and Tabor (Kan.) at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
