OCU stomps St. Gregory’s 115-50

Stars improve to 14-1 in conference action

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University clobbered St. Gregory's 115-50 Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
OCU set a season high in 3-pointers made (14), tied a season high in assists (27) and committed a season low in turnovers (nine). The Stars improved to 19-2, 14-1 Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball.
Oklahoma City scored its most points in a game since defeating Central Christian (Kan.) 133-24 on Nov. 24, 2012. The Stars have broken the century mark for a third time this season.
OCU built a 19-6 lead while St. Gregory's missed nine of its first 11 shots.
"It was the best defense we've played all year," OCU coach Latricia Trammell said. "It was a great 40 minutes of basketball."
Six Stars scored in double figures but were led by Rateska Brown,a senior from Alvin S.C., with 26 points while pulling in four rebounds and dishing a season-high seven assists. Brown nailed six 3-pointers on the night.
Yvonte Neal, a senior from Spring Valley, Calif., dropped 22 points, the most since playing Southwestern Christian on Jan. 15, and added six rebounds. Marisha Wallace, a senior from Midwest City, contributed 17 points and three assists in her first career start as a Star.
The Stars dominated points off turnovers 53-7, bench points 45-10 and fast break points 24-0.
"Everyone contributed in a positive way," Trammell said. "It was great teamwork and everyone had fun. It was the most enjoyable game I have coached."
Oklahoma City host USAO 3 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
