Stars finish 5-0 in Cowtown Classic

Diaz hits home run against Our Lady of the Lake

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University picked up a pair of wins 5-1 over Houston-Victoria and 7-3 over Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on Saturday at Gateway Park.
OCU, ranked fifth in NAIA softball, piled up 21 hits on the day. The Stars finished the Cowtown Classic with a 5-0 record.
Against Houston-Victoria, Jamie Rateliff went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Kylee Rounsaville was 2-for-3 with a run scored for OCU. Kyndra Holasek went 2-for-5, scored twice and stole two bases.
Maci-Brooke Lambert, a senior from Healdton, Okla., struck out three and allowed no earned runs in seven innings.
Against Our Lady of the Lake, Jocelin Diaz provided OCU with a 3-for-3 performance with a home run, double, three runs scored and three RBIs. Carissa Turang went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
Abby Meador notched the victory for the Stars to move to 3-0 on the year. Meador, a freshman from Midwest City, Okla., fanned four in five innings. Maria Gomez struck out three in the final two innings.
The Stars are set to meet Friends (Kan.) in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
