Stars sweep Bellevue

OCU improves to 5-2 on the season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University picked up a pair of wins over 12th-ranked Bellevue (Neb.) Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars won the first game 4-1 and took game two 8-5 to improved to 5-2 on the baseball season.
Oklahoma City used a three-run sixth inning to claim the victory in the first game. Hunter Marcum, a junior from Purcell, Okla., grounded out to second which allowed Joe Lytle to score. The next batter Reggie Wilson, a junior from Beaumont, Texas, smacked a single between the first and second basemen that scored Adam Clark and Joe Haddox to give the Stars the 4-1 win.
Dustin Cook, a junior from Huffman, Texas, went the complete seven innings, allowing four hits, one run and struck out nine and improved to 2-0 on the season.
In the second game, the Stars scored four runs in the second inning to jump out to a 6-1 lead. Lytle, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., reached on an infield hit to the third baseman who had an errant throw that scored Wilson and Marcum.
Bellevue pulled closer by scoring three runs between the third and fourth innings. OCU answered with two runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
Connor Lynch, a senior from Marietta, Ga., went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the second game.
Miguel Gonzalez picked up the win in his first career appearance for the Stars. Gonzalez, a junior from Los Angeles, pitched three innings, allowed two hits, no runs and struck out two.
OCU returns to action 6 p.m. Saturday against Grand View (Iowa) at Jim Wade Stadium.
