PLAINVIEW, Texas – The Oklahoma City University men's soccer team won against Wayland Baptist (Texas) 2-0 on Wednesday at J.V. Hilliard Field.
Freshmen Fabian Henningsen, of Hamburg, Germany, and Henrik Verolet, of Schliengen, Germany, scored their first collegiate goals. OCU improved to 6-8 and 6-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer. The Pioneers fell to 7-6-2 and 3-5 in SAC play.
Henningsen's goal came in the 29th minute off an assist by Petar Djurdjevic, a freshman from Belgrade, Serbia. The assist was Djurdjevic's fourth of the season.
Logan Stewart, a sophomore from Denton, Texas, assisted Verolet in the 62nd minute to extend the Stars' lead. The assist was Stewart's fourth of the season.
Vladimir Kalajdzic, a sophomore from Novi Sad, Serbia, registered six saves and notched his fourth shutout of the season as the Stars goalkeeper. The Pioneers goalkeeper Palmon Plancarte had three saves and fell to 7-6-2.
The Pioneers held the shot advantage 13-11.
The Stars conclude regular-season play at 3 p.m. Saturday against USAO in Chickaska, Okla.
