OCU secures fifth in Cliff Keen Duals

Stars upend defending national champion King

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University wrapped up a fifth-place finish in the Oklahoma City Duals with a 26-19 win over Lindenwood (Mo.) on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Oklahoma City, ranked third in Women's College Wrestling Association, went 2-2 on Saturday to move to 11-4 in duals this season. The Stars began the day by taking a win over defending national champion King (Tenn.).
In the fifth-place dual, the Stars overcame a 10-8 deficit against Lindenwood to pull out the win. Cody Pfau, Shelby Morrison and Natalia Hinojo from OCU notched falls, while Carla Ponce added a technical-fall win. Hinojo's pin in 1:11 put the Stars up 25-11 before Lindenwood won the last two matches of the dual.
Against top-ranked King, the dual went through the 10 individual matches tied at 22. Natalia Hinojo's 10-0 technical-fall win tied the dual 22-22. OCU took the win by the criteria of most four-point moves.
The Stars wrestle Missouri Baptist at 5 p.m., then Wayland Baptist at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at Abe Lemons Arena.
