Stars roll past Texas Wesleyan 3-0

Thompson posts third hat trick of year for OCU

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University shut out Texas Wesleyan 3-0 on Saturday at Stars Field.
Senior Ailee Thompson, of Oklahoma City, recorded her third hat trick of the season to bring her goal total to 16 on the season. The Stars improved to 10-3-1 and 6-0-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer. Texas Wesleyan dropped to 8-5-1 and 3-3-1 in the SAC.
The first goal came in the fourth minute after a Rams foul in the box resulted in a Thompson penalty shot made.
Carissa Turang, a senior from Corona, Calif., assisted Thompson in the 26th minute for the second goal of the night. The assist was Turang's second of the year.
Freshman Sara Ricks, of Keller, Texas, assisted Thompson on her last goal in the 56th minute.
The Stars goalkeeper Kirsten Thomas recorded five saves en route to her sixth shutout of the year. Nikki Lockwood registered five saves as the Rams goalkeeper dropped to 8-4-1 on the season.
OCU narrowly owned the shot advantage at 16-14.
The Stars are back in action 3 p.m. Wednesday against Wayland Baptist in Plainview, Texas.
