BETHANY, Okla. - Oklahoma City University pummeled Southwestern Christian 6-0 on Saturday at Cagle Family Field.
Ailee Thompson, a senior from Oklahoma City, recorded a hat trick, while senior Allie Glazner, from Edmond, Okla., scored her first two goals of the season. OCU improved to 6-3-1 and 2-0-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer. SCU dropped to 7-5-1, 1-2 in the SAC.
The first score of the game came unassisted from Allison Worsham, a senior from Edmond, Okla., in the 23rd minute. Shortly after, Thompson recorded her first goal unassisted in the 27th minute.
The Stars started the second half in a flurry with two goals within four minutes. Glazner netted her first goal off a free kick, then Thompson intercepted a pass and beat the SCU defense down the field for her second goal of the match.
In the 54th minute, Worsham assisted Thompson, who beat a defender and slipped the ball past the goalkeeper, to complete the hat trick.
Glazner scored again off a free kick moments later to extend the Stars lead.
OCU held the shot advantage 25-5. Kirsten Thomas picked up one save, while she improved to 5-3-1 as the Stars goalkeeper. The Eagles' starting goalkeeper Jessie Crenshaw allowed four goals and recorded three saves in 52 minutes of play. Kaylie Naumann occupied the net for the remainder of the game, allowing two goals and tallying three saves.
OCU returns to action 5 p.m. Tuesday against Mid-America Christian at Stars Field.
