Stars sink St. Gregory's 105-65

OCU improves to 12-1 on the season

SHAWNEE, Okla. – No. 2 ranked Oklahoma City University thumped St. Gregory's 105-65 on Saturday at W.P. Wood Field House.
Ouleymatou Coulibaly, a senior from Bamako, Mali, West Africa recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and 19 rebounds. Oklahoma City improved to 13-1, 7-0 Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball.
Catherine Kruschke, a junior from Dublin, Calif., had her first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Rateska Brown, a senior from Alvin, S.C., led the charge for the Stars with 21 points and added five rebounds. Brown sank five 3-pointers in the game.
"It's something we have been talking about," OCU coach Latricia Trammell said. "We thought we needed to get more rebounds and we've been doing that."
The Stars took control in the first half, taking a 59-33 lead into the locker room. OCU led by 31 points with 3:19 left in the first half.  The Stars dominated bench points 24-2, points in the paint 20-8 and second chance points 17-1 in the first half.
The Stars kept their foot on the gas pedal in the second half, jumping to a 43-point lead with under a minute remaining. OCU held St. Gregory's to 32.2 percent shooting in the game while owning a 74-23 advantage in rebounds.
"I am so proud of our team with our rebounding," Trammell said. "It's not every day you can say you had 74 rebounds. I was so proud of our effort."
Oklahoma City travels to John Brown (Ark.) on 6 p.m. Thursday in Siloam Springs, Ark.
