OCU falls to Southeastern

Irwin leads Stars with 16 kills

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University suffered a 20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 setback to Southeastern Oklahoma State on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Meghan Irwin, a senior from Arlington, Texas, topped the Stars with 16 kills. OCU went to 8-3 in volleyball.
Taylor Chase, a junior from Yukon, Okla., accumulated 35 assists, four digs, four kills and two aces for Oklahoma City. Kelley Shiels, a senior from Edmond, Okla., posted 13 digs, while Kristen Macy, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., added eight kills and 11 digs.
Rachel Gabel, a junior from Richardson, Texas, chipped in five kills and nine digs, and Holly Randall, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., contributed six kills and five blocks for the Stars.
Heather Watson served up an ace that staked OCU to a 5-0 lead in the first set. Jami-Rae Renwick knocked down a kill that put the Stars ahead 9-2 en route to the first-set win.
In the fourth set, the Stars built a 9-5 lead. Macy and Randall teamed on a block to put OCU in front 8-5.
OCU resumes Sooner Athletic Conference action against John Brown (Ark.) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
