OCU sweeps USAO 11-0, 3-2

Stars finish regular season at 45-11

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University topped USAO 11-0 and 3-2 Tuesday in its regular-season finale at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The Stars, ranked No. 17 in NAIA softball, outhit the Lady Drovers 16-8 in the doubleheader and completed the regular-season sweep of USAO. OCU finished the regular season with a record of 45-11 overall and 25-7 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Danielle Fox and Emily Krienke each scored on a fielder's choice in the bottom of first inning to give OCU a 2-0 lead.
The Stars blew the game open with a nine-run bottom of the third. RBI singles from Fox and Cheyanne Terry and a three-run home run from Jocelin Diaz highlighted the inning and helped OCU to an 11-0 lead.
Fox retired the side in the top of the fifth and gave the Stars the 11-0 run-rule victory. The senior righty allowed three hits and struck out five in five scoreless innings to improve to 15-3 on the season.
Diaz went 1-for-4 with three RBIs to lead OCU at the plate. Fox, Maxime van Dalen and Terry followed with two RBIs apiece.
The Stars jumped on top in the bottom of the third inning of game No. 2. Diaz scored on an error and Kylee Rounsaville scored on a fielder's choice to stake OCU to a 2-0 advantage.
USAO's Courtney Capps hit a two-run homer in the top of the sixth to even the score at 2-2.
The Stars regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Kyndra Holasek doubled to right-center field and drove in Logan Sundbye.
Jamie Rateliff retired the USAO side in order in the top of the seventh and handed OCU the 3-2 victory. Rateliff allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts in seven innings and improved to 10-2 on the season.
Holasek went 1-for-4 with an RBI to pace the Stars at the dish.
OCU will open SAC Tournament play against Texas Wesleyan at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
