OCU faces Southwestern Assemblies of God in SAC Tournament

Stars play in 11 a.m. quarterfinal Friday

PLAINVIEW, Texas – Oklahoma City University takes on Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) at 11 a.m. Friday at the Hutcherson Center in the Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball tournament.
The winner of that match would move on to the semifinals to meet Oklahoma Baptist at 4:30 p.m. Friday. The championship is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The SAC Tournament champion will be assured a berth in the NAIA Championship Opening Round, which is Nov. 22.
OCU (19-11) swept a pair of matches from Southwestern Assemblies of God (15-15) during the regular season. The Stars knocked off Southwestern Assemblies 25-23, 25-17, 25-17 on Sept. 15 in Waxahachie, Texas, then won 25-19, 25-16, 26-24 on Oct. 13 at Abe Lemons Arena.
Kristen Macy, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., tops Oklahoma City with 3.84 kills, 0.31 aces and 4.29 points per set. Macy ranks 19th in the NAIA in kills a set. Meghan Irwin, a senior from Arlington, Texas, adds 3.04 kills, 0.68 blocks and 3.50 points a set plus a team-high .235 hitting percentage.
Oklahoma City captured the 2010 SAC Tournament.
