ABOUT THE STARS: The Stars are in the midst of a two-game skid. OCU (2-2) suffered its first home loss of the season to Langston 83-68 on Tuesday. Langston shot 56.6 percent from the field for the game.
R.J. McGhee led the Stars with 22 points, hitting 4 of 6 behind the 3-point line. McGhee, 6-foot-6 senior from Baton Rouge, La., ranks sixth in the NAIA Division I in points per game with 23.5.
Dema Sane, a 6-8 senior from Mermoz, Senegal, anchored OCU in rebounds with seven and added eight points. Sane produces 4.8 points and 5.0 rebounds a game. Jamil Donovan, a 5-7 junior from Oklahoma City, contributed eight points, four rebounds and four assists. Donovan contributes 4.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.

The Stars received votes in the preseason NAIA Division I rankings. OCU has been predicted to take fourth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference in the preseason. OCU has won six national championships in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2007 and 2008.
OCU owns a 26-22 lead in the all-time series against Central Oklahoma. The Stars walloped Central Oklahoma 98-83 on Nov.3 at Abe Lemons Arena, in the Stars' first regular-season game of the season.
 
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS: Central Oklahoma controlled Oklahoma Christian 86-60 on Tuesday in Hamilton Field House. Central Oklahoma (3-0) held Oklahoma Christian to 35.2 field-goal percentage, including 25.0 percent from deep.
Seth Heckart, a 6-foot junior, led all scorers with 20 points. He also pulled down four rebounds and dished four assists. Heckart leads the Bronchos in scoring and second in rebounds, averaging 14.3 points and 5.0 rebounds game. Trai Jordan, a 6-6 junior, grabbed 10 rebounds and added eight points. Jordan leads Central Oklahoma in rebounds, averaging 7.3 a game.
Central Oklahoma was picked to finish sixth in the MIAA preseason poll.
 
ABOUT THE COACHES: Dionne Phelps owns a record of 47-40 in his fourth season as OCU coach. He led the Stars to the SAC Tournament title and an NAIA Division I Tournament appearance in 2012-13. Phelps took over the Stars after serving as assistant coach for Oklahoma, which featured future No. 1 NBA Draft pick Blake Griffin during his tenure. Phelps has been a part of four conference title teams as well as three NCAA Tournament teams during his 23-year coaching career. Phelps played for Texas Lutheran, eventually joining the Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame.
Terry Evans enters his 13th season with Central Oklahoma. Evans is 246-114 in 12 years at UCO, ranking first in winning percentage (.683) and second in wins in program history.
 
QUOTABLE: "If you're going to win games, you're going to win games by your defense," Phelps said. "Sometimes the ball's not going to fall in with the regularity that you want it to. So you have to figure out how to defend."
