Stars stymie Southwestern Christian

OCU runs win streak to five

Aspen Healy provided OCU with five kills and two blocks Thursday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University sank Southwestern Christian 25-11, 25-14, 25-14 on Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Kristen Macy, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., totaled 13 kills and four kills for the Stars. Oklahoma City increased its win streak to five in going to 18-9, 10-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
OCU matched its longest win streak this season with its 5-0 start.
Taylor Chase, a junior from Yukon, Okla., posted 21 assists, six digs and two kills for the Stars. Aspen Healy, a senior from Oklahoma City, and Chazmin Franklin, a junior from Bay City, Texas, each notched five kills for OCU.
Kelley Shiels, a senior from Edmond, Okla., supplied the Stars with five digs.
OCU used an 8-0 run en route to taking the first set. Healy and Macy contributed two kills each during the Stars' spree.
In the second set, Oklahoma City erased an 8-5 deficit with nine consecutive points. Meghan Irwin jumpstarted the run with a kill and an ace. In the third, the Stars uncorked a 7-0 splurge to start the set. Jami-Rae Renwick pocketed a pair of kills in that span.
Celebrate Halloween with the Stars as Wayland Baptist (Texas), ranked 19th in the NAIA, comes to Abe Lemons Arena for a 7 p.m. match Friday. Fans who come in costume get free pizza.
