OCU wins twice in Eagle Invitational

Stars go 3-1 in tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma City University grabbed two victories Saturday in the Avila Eagle Invitational at the Mabee Fieldhouse.
OCU defeated Kansas Wesleyan 25-16, 25-16, 26-24, then beat Bethel (Kan.) 25-22, 25-14, 25-17. The Stars improved to 5-3 on the year.
Against Kansas Wesleyan, Kristen Macy spearheaded OCU with 11 kills, six digs, three aces and two solo blocks. Hannah Mitcham dished out 19 assists, while Heather Watson compiled 13 assists, five digs and two aces for the Stars.
OCU's Meghan Irwin had eight kills and three blocks, and Rachel Gabel added five kills, nine digs and three aces. OCU racked up 11 aces as Maggie Vickers contributed three.
Against Bethel, Irwin topped the Stars with eight kills while picking up two blocks. Macy, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., accumulated seven kills, five digs, four blocks and two aces, while Mitcham, a sophomore from Fort Worth, Texas, posted 13 assists and two kills.
Danielle Robison, a senior from Dallas, totaled eight digs and four aces, and Gabel, a sophomore from Richardson, Texas, hammered down five kills.
Macy was named to the Avila Eagle Invitational's all-tournament team.
The Stars face Southwestern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Weatherford, Okla.
