Stars zap Mid-America Christian in three sets

Flynn, Macy share match-high honors with nine kills each

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 25-14, 25-12, 25-17 victory over Mid-America Christian in its 2013 home finale Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Danielle Robison, a senior from Dallas, boosted her OCU career-record numbers to 1,543 digs and 180 aces after posting 31 assists, eight digs, three blocks and two aces on senior night. The Stars improved to 18-12, 9-6 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Torrie Flynn, a senior from Edmond, Okla., collected nine kills, six digs and two blocks, while Kristen Macy, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., notched nine kills and eight digs for OCU.
The Stars' Meghan Irwin, a junior from Arlington, Texas, added six kills and five blocks, and Rachel Gabel, a sophomore from Richardson, Texas, contributed six kills, six digs and two blocks.
Anna Gentry, a senior from Stillwater, Okla., piled up eight digs and three aces, and Tori Thomas, a redshirt freshman from Norman, Okla., scooped eight digs for OCU.
Macy had three kills as OCU scored the match's first five points. Gentry added two aces during a 5-0 surge that put the Stars ahead 19-8.
The Stars overcame a 4-0 deficit in the third set. Gabel's block helped OCU put together four points in a row to erase a 10-9 hole.
OCU challenges Oklahoma Baptist, ranked seventh in the NAIA, at 7 p.m. Friday in Shawnee, Okla.
