Oklahoma deals OCU 50-0 loss

Stars feature four freshmen in dual lineup

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma City University opened its 2013-14 dual season with a 50-0 setback to nationally-ranked Oklahoma on Tuesday at McCasland Fieldhouse.
Oklahoma, ranked fifth in NCAA Division I wrestling, racked up four falls and four technical-fall wins in improving to 2-0 in duals. OCU fell to 0-1.
The Stars' Zach Skates held his own against Clark Glass, falling 10-4 in the 165-pound match. Glass had a takedown and near fall in the first period to lead 4-1, then added two escapes and a takedown in the second. Skates, an all-American last season, holds the No. 5 spot in the NAIA's 165-pound rankings.
Returning NAIA Championships qualifier Cody Sivertsen of the Stars lost by fall to Travis Rutt at 197 pounds.
All-American Jarrod Patterson started Oklahoma off with a 20-4 win over Adrian Gaines at 125 pounds. OCU started four freshmen – Gaines, James Landoll at 141, Ricky McCarty at 149 and Derek Sivertsen at 184.
The Stars return to action in the Bethany Swede Open at 9 a.m. Saturday in Lindsborg, Kan.
