OCU tops Texas Wesleyan 2-0, advances to SAC Tournament title game

Stars score twice off free kicks, improve to 15-4

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University blanked Texas Wesleyan 2-0 Tuesday at Stars Field to advance to the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament championship game.
OCU, ranked No. 18 in NAIA women's soccer, got a pair of goals off free kicks and notched its 10th shutout of the season en route to the 2-0 victory. The 15-4 Stars will host John Brown (Ark.) in the SAC Tournament title game at 6 p.m. Friday at Stars Field.
OCU took a 1-0 advantage in the 17th minute when Allie Glazner sent a free kick from midfield into the penalty area. Meghan McMahon corralled the ball and found the back of the net for the 16th time this season and 76th time in her OCU career.
Allison Worsham tracked down a free kick from Ashleigh Story in the 77th minute and scored her 14th goal of the season to give the Stars the 2-0 victory.
Goalkeepers Ashley Bechtold and Alissa Reed split time between the posts for the Stars. Reed got the start and made one save while Bechtold played the second half and made two saves.
The top-seeded Stars will host second-seeded John Brown in the SAC Tournament championship game Friday at Stars Field. In the previous meeting between the two sides, OCU edged the Golden Eagles 1-0 on Oct. 2 at Stars Field. The match will be available to watch live here.
