Stars face John Brown in SAC volleyball tournament

Quarterfinal match set for 1 p.m. Friday at Oklahoma Baptist

OCU ranks 24th in aces per set as a team among the NAIA.
SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University squares off with John Brown (Ark.) at 1 p.m. Friday in the Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball tournament at the Noble Complex on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University.
OCU (18-13) took two matches from John Brown (15-18) in the regular-season series. John Brown knocked the Stars out of last year's SAC Tournament, which was won by Oklahoma Baptist.
On Oct. 2, the Stars defeated John Brown 25-22, 27-29, 25-23, 19-25, 15-7 in Siloam Springs, Ark. OCU prevailed 25-15, 21-25, 25-18, 25-14 over John Brown at Abe Lemons Arena on Nov. 1.
The winner of the JBU-OCU match takes on seventh-ranked Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m. Friday. The semifinal winners meet 2 p.m. Saturday for the tournament championship. The winner of the tournament gets a bid into the NAIA Championship Opening Round.
Danielle Robison, a senior from Dallas, owns OCU career records for digs (1,559) and aces (181). Robison leads the SAC in aces per set (0.59) for the second consecutive year while ranking 14th among the NAIA in aces (63) and aces a set. OCU ranks 24th in aces a set (1.94) and 34th in aces (209) nationally.
Kristen Macy, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., tops OCU with 2.99 kills and 3.63 points per set as well as 320 total kills. Meghan Irwin, a junior from Arlington, Texas, leads the Stars with 0.74 blocks a set, 80 blocks and a .254 hitting percentage.
OCU won the 2010 SAC Tournament.
