Stars nip USAO 2-1

OCU improves to 8-1 in SAC play

Meghan McMahon scored her 13th goal of the year against USAO.

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Oklahoma City University erased an early deficit and topped USAO 2-1 Friday at Drover Pitch.
The Stars, ranked No. 20 in NAIA women's soccer, fell behind 1-0 in the 15th minute but got a pair of second-half goals to improve to 12-4 overall and 8-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Allison Worsham put a shot on goal in the 10th minute, but USAO goalkeeper Addie Lee made the save and kept the Stars off the scoreboard.
USAO took an early 1-0 lead when Jade Ovendale took a pass from Linda Addo and score in the 15th minute.
In the 30th minute, Stars' goalkeeper Alissa Reed stopped a shot from Ovendale to keep the score 1-0.
The Stars evened the match at 1-1 in the 55th minute when Worsham scored her 10th goal of the season off a corner kick from Meghan McMahon.
OCU took a 2-1 advantage in the 60th minute when McMahon got the ball from Worsham and scored from 18 yards out. The goal was McMahon's 13th of the season and 73rd of her career.
OCU goalkeeper Ashley Bechtold made saves in the 67th, 75th and 90th minutes to give the Stars the 2-1 victory.
Bechtold and Reed split time in goal for the Stars. Reed got the start and made one save while Bechtold played the second half and made three save.
The Stars put seven shots on goal and outshot USAO 24-9 on the day.
OCU will return to action in its regular-season finale against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) at noon Nov. 4 in Waxahachie, Texas.
