OCU draws Northwood 1-1

Stars move to 1-1-2 in SAC play

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University played to a 1-1 draw with Northwood (Texas) Saturday at Stars Field.
The Stars, now 4-4-2 overall and 1-1-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, got a match-tying goal from Ruy Vaz in the 57th minute, but couldn't find the back of the net again and the match ended in a 1-1 draw after two overtime periods.
Northwood took a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute when Ulysses Mendoza took a pass from Mirko Ruiz and scored.
The Stars evened the match at 1-1 in the 57th minute when Adam Black found Vaz with pass into the box. Vaz beat Northwood goalkeeper Brandon Alvarez and scored his sixth goal of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Joe Shulberg made one of his four saves in the seventh minute of the first overtime period to keep the match level at one goal apiece.
In the second overtime period, Northwood hit the crossbar twice and Shulberg made another save to keep the Knights off the scoreboard and end the match with a score of 1-1.
OCU will return to action against Southwestern Christian at 3 p.m. Oct. 15 in Bethany, Okla.
