OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City goalkeeper
Alexis Bertrand was voted second-team Academic All-America by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Â
The award requires a cumulative 3.50 grade point average or higher and a significant contribution to the success of the team. Nominees who earn Academic All-District and are considered elite-level athletes are placed on a national ballot and are voted on by NAIA members of the CSC.
Â
"We knew when we were recruiting Alexis that he had this type of potential," said OCU Head Coach
Billy Martin. "His work rate on and off the field is one of the best I've seen in a student-athlete He is not only a great player and student but an even better person. So proud of him."
Â
Bertrand, who earned Sooner Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year honors, is a senior marketing major. He is the first OCU men's soccer player to earn Academic All-America since 2018 when Aboubakr Diallo was honored.
Â
Bertrand led the SAC with a 0.77 goals-against average and 77.8 save percentage. He had eight shutouts this season.
