Stars set to host Northwood, tailgate barbeque

Proceeds from barbeque benefit OCU soccer programs

A.J. Dodson has started all nine contests on defense for OCU.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University soccer is set to host the sixth annual OCU soccer tailgate barbeque prior to its matches against Sooner Athletic Conference newcomer Northwood (Texas) Saturday at Stars Field.
Proceeds from the barbeque, beginning at 1 p.m. on the west side of Stars Field, will benefit the men's and women's soccer programs. Fans can get their choice of hamburgers, hot dogs or ribs for $7.
The OCU men enter the weekend at 4-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play. In their last contest, the Stars played to a 1-1 draw with St. Gregory's and moved their record in overtime matches to 2-0-1 on the season.
OCU is led by forwards Adam Black and Ruy Vaz. Black, a senior from Liverpool, England, and Vaz, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, are tied for the team lead in goals (five) and points (10).
OCU, ranked No. 22 in NAIA women's soccer, enters Saturday with a record of 7-3 overall and 3-0 in SAC play. The Stars have won three straight and seven of their last eight matches including a 9-0 victory over St. Gregory's in which six different players scored a goal.
The Stars are led by all-time leading scorer Meghan McMahon. The senior from Oklahoma City is second in the SAC in goals with nine and has increased her career sum to 69 this season.
