Stars nip Union 3-2

A pair of own goals helped OCU pick up its second win of the season

Nathan Doll helped the Star defeat Union and move to 2-0-2 on the season.

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University picked up a nail-biting 3-2 win in overtime against Union (Tenn.) Friday in the John Brown Classic at Alumni Field.
The win moves the Stars to 2-0-2 on the season and was OCU's third overtime match of the year.
Junior Adam Black, of Liverpool, England, got the Stars on the scoreboard in the first minute of the game when he beat Union goalkeeper Matt Kesler to score his third goal of the season and make the score 1-0.
Union tied the score at 1-1 in the 52nd minute of the game when Guiherme Reis took a pass from Alysson Mohl and beat junior goalkeeper Joe Shulberg, of Huntingdon, England.
The Stars regained the in the 54th minute when freshman Daniel Yeom, of Tongyeong, South Korea, played a ball into the box that deflected off a Union defender and into the net to make the score 2-1.
Reis tied the game again in the 87th minute to make the score 2-2 and send the match to overtime.
In the 100th minute, senior Nathan Doll, of Tulsa, Okla., put a free kick into the box that deflected off a Union defender for another own goal and gave OCU the 3-2 victory.
Shulberg allowed two goals and made five saves in 100 minutes of action.
The Stars will return to the pitch against Northwestern (Iowa) at noon Saturday in their second match of the John Brown Classic in Siloam Springs, Ark.
